Japanese-Italian Fusion by Kei Concepts
Japanese Italian fusion, a concept that’s not too crazy if you really think about it. The two cuisines share many common elements, notably, the emphasis on seasonality and simplicity, as well as similar ingredients and cooking styles - the similarities are quite evident. Drawn to the simple yet delicious Mediterranean flavors of Italian food, Japan’s love affair with “Itameshi” (literally “Italian Food” in Japanese) blossomed almost overnight. From traditional pizza establishments to avant-garde Japanese Italian fusion restaurants, Japan has embraced Italian cuisine, and developed an affair that has lasted for a century.
